3º Brazilian Object Award (2012)

PRESENTATION

Since 2008 A CASA promotes the Brazilian Object Award. The purpose is to highlight and reward the best of contemporary handicraft production in Brazil. The initiative has biannual editions, in which prizes amounting to R$ 34,500 are distributed. The awards are divided into four categories. Authorial Production Objects comprises contemporary objects made in an artisanal or semi-artisanal form and designed by professionals, artisans and small or micro businesses. Collective Production Objects comprises contemporary products designed by artisan groups, communities, associations or cooperatives. Socio-environmental Action encompasses projects focused on environmental responsibility (income generation, reuse and recycling, sustainable development and social inclusion). Finally, the category Texts was introduced in 2014, to enhance and acknowledge articles, essays, reports, dissertations, theses and books about the relationship between craftsmanship and design.
