Objective

A CASA museum of the Brazilian object is intended to give its contribution to the appreciation, enhancement and development of Brazilian craftsmanship and design, fostering the conscious perception and respect for Brazilian expression in these domains.

Activities

Collect, research, select, document and protect products and cultural references; Publicize, disseminate and make available information and knowledge about these products and references, through physical and virtual exhibitions, publications, videos, debates, educative actions, etc.; Promote and conduct mediations, acting as a network interlinking initiatives and persons involved and interested in the cultural expression of Brazil; Promote and encourage critical considerations about Brazilian cultural expression, through meetings, seminars, conferences, courses, etc; Establish criteria for the evaluation of initiatives related to design and craftsmanship defining parameters about the projects’ ethics and quality; Encourage qualification of the involved cultural agents.

Universe of Interest

A CASA museum of the Brazilian object is interested in the genesis of artisan semi-artisan and industrial objects – perceived as a cultural expression. It privileges Brazilian production or the focus about and on Brazil. This vision may reach other countries insofar as there is relevance for a better understanding of the Brazilian panorama. Not only is the object itself of interest, but also the process and context in which it is conceived, made and consumed. Of further interest is a network of cultural mediation that currently enhances and enables the socialization of cultural productions.
